recipe double acting baking powder
can you use regular baking powder to replace double acting baking powder in a recipe?

im making peanut butter cookies and the recipe calls for double acting baking powder can i use regular baking powder to replace that ?

Is it single acting baking powder? That isn’t being made in the US any more, that I know of, so your baking powder is probably double acting.

No matter:

To use single acting baking powder add the baking powder immediately before baking. It only gives one rise and it’s gone.

To use double acting baking powder you can add it to your ingredients and use it when needed. Of course this won’t last forever but you can chill dough in the refrigerator before baking. Double acting baking powder has a initial rise when added to the ingredients and then a second rise while baking.
