acting techniques

acting techniques
What other acting techniques are there besides “method”?

And could you please explain a little bit about each of them? I tried to find it on google but nothing pops. I’ve typed “Acting techniques” and all I see is “method”

Well, there’s several different forms of Method acting, but there are many other schools of thought beyond that.

there’s Misner’s theory, which is built upon improvisation and spontaneity, just doing what comes naturally (because that’s what people, ergo your character, do).

There’s also Brechtian theatre, which is built upon the idea that theatre is not there to entertain or to build emotional connection between the audience and the characters, but to educate and to bring about self-reflection.

There’s additionally the Theatre of Cruelty. This was built upon the idea that theatre should shock and stun an audience into submission, in a way that would potentially shatter the false images and hypocrisies that we see in our daily lives.

There are many schools of thought as far as the Acting and the Theatre goes. Take some classes, go to the library. The information is out there, believe me. :)
